At the end of February, I travelled down to Blackthorn Fishery in Oswestry for my first session of 2019. After what started out looking like a blank, I slipped the net under a lovely 23.10 mirror, followed by my first 40 the following morning; a colossal fish known as ‘The Warrior’ at 40.02. I’ll run through my tactics for this session as well as give a recap of the last few months with a behind the scenes look into the OTBT brand.
Avid Adventures visits Blackthorn Fishery with Ian Russell & Kev Horton for a Winter special that the guys won’t forget any time soon! With access to one of the luxury lakeside cabins, the guys fish 4 days and catch some of the gems that reside in the lake, as well as taking full advantage of the facilities by making a slap up Christmas dinner!

Before we had finished the new lodges completely. The fishery now only takes lodge bookings. If any lodges are empty the swim can be fished by bivvy- but Members only.
